Courage or Cowardice

They Traveled From Afar...

Courage or Cowardice--
Those words haunt me
As we face the upcoming election
In America.

Please forgive me veering into the political--
But the state of affairs in our country,
Our world
Provoke sobering thoughts.

Hubby and I love trekking through the mountains
Amidst the ruins of gold mining towns
Where men and women
Traveled  via stage coach
And horseback seeking treasure.

Undaunted by danger and the impossible
They blazed trails of adventure
Seeking a better life
For them and their loved ones.

That's who I 'm thinking about today--
My precious Treasures and Heartbeats--
And yes
Your Children and Grandchildren too.

Let's vote--
Let's fight--
And let's pray
That God will fight for us.

And help remove corrupt leaders
Here in America and around the world--
Who care nothing
About our children and grandchildren.

Those arrogant leaders are movtivated by one thing--greed.

A Great Example of Courage

June 8, 1978 Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn delivered
A controversial and prophetic commencement address
At Harvard in which he said:

"A decline in courage may be the most striking feature
An outside observer notices in the West in our days.
The western world has lost its civil courage as a whole
As well as in each country, government, political party
And in the United Nations.

Such a decline in courage is particularly noticeable
Among the ruling and intellectual elites
Causing an impression of a loss of courage
By the entire society."

May Solzhenitsyn's words challenge us--
Let's flee cowardice and
Return to a
Courageous
Caring
Country and world.

Shalom!

Amen to that wonderful post, Bobbe. Unfortunately, those who are morally and spiritually blind and only vote for what they perceive will benefit them directly, do not see themselves for what they are: cowards.
