Dreams, Writing & C.S. Lewis

The book burned within--
And she wrote
And wrote
And wrote.

Yes
She dreamed
And she wrote.

I wonder how many times family and friends
Asked--
Isn't your book finished yet?

Those of us who write
Know those familiar questions.

Helen Hooven Santmyer didn't get discouraged--
And she didn't give up.

She kept writing
And dreaming
And writing.

How do I know?
Because that's what writers do.
In spite of time, rejections and questions,
We write.

What an example Helen H. Santmyer is to all of us.
One day
Her work
Effort
And diligence
paid off.

Yes 50  years later the book was finished--
And not only published
But her book
And Ladies of The Club
Was #1 on the New York Times bestseller list.

Keep dreaming
Keep writing
And never
Never
Give up!

And when you feel like giving up remember:

"You are never too old to set a new goal
Or to dream a new dream."
----C.S. Lewis

and

"Call unto Me and I will answer you
And show you great and mighty things you know not."
--The Bible
